Selling Past The Close

Well, here I am posting another moment of self-inflicted punishment. I have no followers and I’m sure no one’s even looked at this blog. If they have it was probably followed by a strong and hearty laughter. You know, the kind that comes from your cockles.
Anyways, enough complaining. For this time out I am posting some quite “wire-frame” exercises I did. Nothing fancy at all. I’m working in ballpoint pen again because I want to have more confident lines and don’t want to rely on that “happy accident”. I also did these as quick as possible because I’m working more on getting the quick form down and want the emotion to come across as opposed to focusing on every single little line that goes into the entire picture. Great artists who utilize this- if you’re interested- are Ashley Wood, Skottie Young and Tommy Lee Edwards. I’m hoping to have some more finished stuff, I’m actually getting ready to work on an MJ piece, posted on here soon so keep an eye out. Again, any comments, suggestions, criticisms are appreciated. If there’s something you want to see drawn out just for fun drop a comment. So keep an eye out and tell anyone who likes bad art. Keep ‘em swinging.

First Post (Or How I Came To Love The Bomb...er, I Mean Blog)

Well, here I am jumping into the blogosphere. I think I’m at a point where I know too many people with blogs and am feeling left in the dust. So, this is my attempt at putting myself out there and letting people see some of my “art”. I use that term loosely because I’ve never claimed that I am an artist, I just take art classes. I don’t usually like to wax poetic and am not much of a wordsmith, so don’t expect some long diatribes of posts. If I even get 5 regular viewers I’d be happy.

So, to give you an idea of what will be showing up on this blog I’ll start with 2 pages of quick sketch work where I used magazines as reference points. I spent no more than 5-8 minutes on each because I wanted to get loose and work on a more “gestural” appearance. I also used just a simple black ballpoint pen because I wanted to focus more on the flow than the technicality of each line. In the future I’ll be posting a mixture of quick studies like these, along with more detailed technical pieces, design work and possibly things done in different medias.
If by some strange chance you actually like looking at my horrible attempt at “art”, tell some friends and/or acquaintances. Also, feel free to drop comment, critiques and ideas for future drawings and what not.

And to bite an idea of some dude I know- he knows who he is- here is a playlist of music on in the background while working on the samples and writing this. Peace and Grease.
