Here Is No Why

So I've neglected this blog for a bit. That doesn't mean though that I haven't been "drawing". I figured I'd at least put some stuff that has been done since my last post up. I'm sure that everyone that comes here has already seen these anyways, but you never know right? Anyway, on with the bad- I'll be going from old to newest.

"YOU! You Forgot To Put Down The Toilet Seat!"

In a M.O.D.O.K. kind of mood today after talking about how funny the new "Super Hero Squad" cartoon is!

All These Nuts!!

Here's my "blah" sketch of the day. I thought it looked better than it really does. Why do I have to go back and start re-examing everything after it's done.

Our Kitten Attack Class Are No Match For Them!!

Here are a couple of sketches I've done over the last week or two. I need to get into more of a habit of doing at least one refined sketch a day or two days.

Ring-A-Ding!

Haven't posted in a long time. Here are some pages sans text of the story that will be in an anthology comic by the group that I'm a part of. Hope it doesn't offend your eyes too much.

Mad Max Beyond Thunder Chicken

Not much to this post really. I finished this off at work when trying to do some warm up sketches. The character is the creation of someone else entirely and was done as more of a joke than anything. So now I bring the world, "Thunder Chicken"!!

I Think I Just Went From 6 To Midnight

Well, this isn’t finished but I at least wanted to get something put on here this week and I’m not quite sure when else I’d get that chance. For those of you not in the “know”, or those that just can’t see what I’m doing in my chicken scratch “art”, I bring you Warlock from one of my favorite books growing up “New Mutants”.

Funny story behind this drawing, over the last weekend I saw a license plate that I swear at first glance said the person was from “Warlock”, Indiana. In truth I was too quick on the jump and sadly the person was from lame Warrick, Indiana.

I plan on further developing this and inking it with brush pen and possibly throwing it in Photoshop and attempting at coloring it. The color scheme with this character is very simple, yellow and black, but I wanted to mess around a bit with the whole “techno-organic” nature of the character. A bit of a throwback to the “Masta!” Bill Sienkiewicz.
Anyway, again tell some friends or whatever about the blog. I need more followers’ damnit! Please, feel free to leave comments, questions, critiques, and whatevas. Thanks for stopping by, and you stay classy San Diego.

Confessions Of A Lonely Housewife?

Well, this isn’t a post for anything “new” per se. What I’m doing is posting some things I have done over time for either personal or schoolwork. I hope everyone can look at these and see that I won’t be posting just “bad” stuff; sometimes it gets as good as “mediocre”. Below are two acrylic paintings done for school, as well as a pencil portrait of Chino from the ‘Deftones’ done years ago but I still like it and also a portrait done in scratchboard with a Xacto knife. Enjoy or not, but at least leave comments and possibly tell other people.

"Untitled Portrait" (scratchboard)

"Bored." -Chino Moreno Portrait. (graphite on paper)

"Kitty, Kitty!!" (acrylic on canvas)

Selling Past The Close

Well, here I am posting another moment of self-inflicted punishment. I have no followers and I’m sure no one’s even looked at this blog. If they have it was probably followed by a strong and hearty laughter. You know, the kind that comes from your cockles.
Anyways, enough complaining. For this time out I am posting some quite “wire-frame” exercises I did. Nothing fancy at all. I’m working in ballpoint pen again because I want to have more confident lines and don’t want to rely on that “happy accident”. I also did these as quick as possible because I’m working more on getting the quick form down and want the emotion to come across as opposed to focusing on every single little line that goes into the entire picture. Great artists who utilize this- if you’re interested- are Ashley Wood, Skottie Young and Tommy Lee Edwards. I’m hoping to have some more finished stuff, I’m actually getting ready to work on an MJ piece, posted on here soon so keep an eye out. Again, any comments, suggestions, criticisms are appreciated. If there’s something you want to see drawn out just for fun drop a comment. So keep an eye out and tell anyone who likes bad art. Keep ‘em swinging.

First Post (Or How I Came To Love The Bomb...er, I Mean Blog)

Well, here I am jumping into the blogosphere. I think I’m at a point where I know too many people with blogs and am feeling left in the dust. So, this is my attempt at putting myself out there and letting people see some of my “art”. I use that term loosely because I’ve never claimed that I am an artist, I just take art classes. I don’t usually like to wax poetic and am not much of a wordsmith, so don’t expect some long diatribes of posts. If I even get 5 regular viewers I’d be happy.

So, to give you an idea of what will be showing up on this blog I’ll start with 2 pages of quick sketch work where I used magazines as reference points. I spent no more than 5-8 minutes on each because I wanted to get loose and work on a more “gestural” appearance. I also used just a simple black ballpoint pen because I wanted to focus more on the flow than the technicality of each line. In the future I’ll be posting a mixture of quick studies like these, along with more detailed technical pieces, design work and possibly things done in different medias.
If by some strange chance you actually like looking at my horrible attempt at “art”, tell some friends and/or acquaintances. Also, feel free to drop comment, critiques and ideas for future drawings and what not.

And to bite an idea of some dude I know- he knows who he is- here is a playlist of music on in the background while working on the samples and writing this. Peace and Grease.
